L801 XPON ONU Serial Number Modification Tutorial

The L801 XPON ONU is a dual-mode fiber optic terminal compatible with both GPON and EPON standards. In some cases, users need to modify the ONU serial number (SN) to meet different carrier network authentication requirements.

Why Modify the Serial Number?

Different ISPs use different authentication methods: SN authentication, LOID, or Password. When replacing an ONU device, modifying the serial number lets the new device pass authentication without contacting the ISP.

Modification Steps

Step 1: Log into the ONU management interface via browser (default IP: 192.168.1.1).
Step 2: Log in with admin credentials.
Step 3: Navigate to "System Tools" or "Maintenance".
Step 4: Find "Serial Number Modification" or "SN Configuration".
Step 5: Enter the new serial number and click Save.
Step 6: Reboot the ONU to apply changes.

Important Notes

Back up your original configuration before modifying the SN. Ensure the new SN format is correct (typically 12 alphanumeric characters). Re-registration is required after modification.
