Introduction: Multi-Service Convergence over Fiber
A key advantage of fiber broadband is the ability to carry multiple services over a single fiber. Through GPON networks and proper configuration, voice, broadband internet, IPTV video, and surveillance backhaul can all operate in parallel on the same fiber infrastructure, reducing deployment costs and simplifying network management.
Multi-Service Architecture
GPON networks natively support multi-service convergence. The OLT assigns bandwidth and priority to different services through distinct T-CONT and GEM Ports, while ONU devices provide multiple service ports (voice, data, IPTV). Multi-service GPON ONU products
Service Planning Key Points
VLAN Planning: Assign different VLAN IDs per service. e.g., Internet VLAN 100, IPTV VLAN 200, VoIP VLAN 300, Surveillance VLAN 400.
QoS Configuration: Voice highest priority, video medium, internet best-effort.
Bandwidth Guarantee: Use DBA to reserve bandwidth for high-priority services.
Typical Configuration Solutions
1. Home Users: 1x POTS voice port + 1x GE data port + 1x IPTV port
2. Business Users: 4x FE/GE + 2x POTS + WiFi
3. Surveillance Backhaul: Dedicated GE port with guaranteed upstream bandwidth
