What is an SFP Module?

An SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) module is a hot-pluggable optical transceiver used in network equipment (switches, routers, OLTs, etc.) for electro-optical signal conversion. It converts electrical signals to optical signals for fiber transmission and vice versa, making it one of the most critical interface components in modern fiber networks.

Langzhi Technology offers a full range of high-quality SFP module products compatible with Huawei, ZTE, Cisco, H3C and other major brands.

SFP Module Types

SFP (Gigabit)

Up to 1.25Gbps, the most common 100M/1000M optical module for switches, OLTs, and media converters.

SFP+ (10 Gigabit)

Up to 10Gbps, backward compatible with SFP interfaces. Widely used in 10G networks and data center access/aggregation layers.

SFP28 (25 Gigabit)

25Gbps for next-generation data center server connections.

QSFP+/QSFP28

40Gbps (4x10G) and 100Gbps (4x25G) for data center core and telecom backbone networks.

By Transmission Distance

  • SR (Short Reach) - Multimode fiber, 100-300m, data center internal
  • LR (Long Reach) - Single-mode fiber, 10km, MAN/campus
  • ER (Extended Reach) - Single-mode fiber, 40km
  • ZR - Single-mode fiber, 80-120km

Selection Guide

1. Determine device compatibility - Langzhi offers modules compatible with Huawei, ZTE, Cisco, H3C and other brands.

2. Determine speed - SFP for Gigabit, SFP+ for 10G, SFP28/QSFP for data centers.

3. Determine distance - SR for data centers, LR/ER for MAN, ZR for backbone.
